A lesser known band coming out of E6 ( if you dont know wikipedia it) Major Organ and the Adding Machine are an indie kid's dream. While the members are still kind of a mystery the key players are Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeff Magnum and Julian Koster as well a stream of supporters. If you listen to the album closely Kevin Barnes (Of Montreal) has a part in a lot of songs.

Beautiful smooth and melodic tunes. Another one of those acoustic, raspy, sad bands that I am a sucker for. Right now they touring with Wilco, they are playing sometime in July in Jacksonville. I don't think I'll be able to go to this one, but if you can this is a can't miss. I have seen a good amount of shows in my life and to this day Wilco sits near the top.

also thanks for not posting your concert stories making me and shane look like weirdos for only sharing our own, thanks fans

My new weekly post, let see how long this one lasts. I plan to post all things velvet underground. If you don't have this one already get it now. Sit down listen and realize this is where indie came from. Show some respect for the fore fathers this album is a masterpiece.
Prolly Didn't Make Sense haha

maybe tell a story. what do you say?
I will start
At The Ruby Suns concert last week some girl almost knocked me over a few times with her drunken kind of dancing. I assumed correctly that she was beyond reason and not calming down at all so I might have been a little harsh, but I merely put my elbow out to protect me and my friends. Sure enough the next time she slammed into me she got an unexpected nudge. Then she turns around and asks "do you have a problem?" and I thought to myself fuck Jacksonville, fuck Jack Rabbits one of the worst venues I've ever been to, and fuck people who don't know how to go to a show. In the end the girl moved to another spot, luckily this time she stood behind me and shane and screamed at the top of her lungs for the next few hours.
Your turn, worst/best/average concert experiences lets hear em.
Post in the little box thing and I'll move it to the post.
Come On, Please

Here's my story:
This was a couple years back, the show was Alkaline Trio, Saves the Day (I think), and Death by Stereo. The place? Revolution in Downtown Ft Laudy.
To kick things off Death By Stereo was one of the worst bands I have ever heard or seen...ever. I wanted to stab my eardrums with anything I could get my hands on. Sadly, nothing was available. Anyway, this story isn't actually about bad musicians, but about bad fans and even worse security.
If you have never been to Revolution, the inside pit area is all laminated hardwood floor, and I guess it seems that Alkaline Trio draws a largely older audience than most shows I was going to at the time. As it were, most of the patrons were drinking their $5 domestic beers out of their solo cups and being in the pit every so often a cup of beer would be spilled. Turning the floor into a slip-n-slide o'death.
Eventually a mosh pit of sorts opened up and all the cool kids pushed all the other cool kids as hard as they could. I was standing behind a rather stout manchild who was on the edge of the circle, when all of a sudden a kid was pushed by someone else into the aforementioned manchild. Even though it wasn't his fault, the kid turned around and apologized, when all of a sudden the fatboy reared back and punched the kid in the face. We all stood there shocked, but no one was as shocked as the kid who just got sucker punched in the face. Thank god the bouncers came to his rescue, but oh wait! What's going on?! Did the bouncers really just tackle the kid who just got punched in the face. Well thank god our manchild was drunk enough to come to his rescue, because once again he threw his haymaker and hit one of the bouncers.
The two concertgoers were escorted off the premises. I like to think that they went out for a beer afterwards.

Saw him last weekend in Miami, dude's got a ton of soul for a white guy. Super super catchy, fun, motownish music. Just bob your head, you know you want to.
Always Flossin

Ruby Suns and Tily tomorrow in J ville be there (or dont)

I saw this album reviewed in the Satellite yesterday. The Satellite is North Central Florida music, arts, and theater publication.
Anyway, I'm watching a boring as hell Microeconomics lecture right now so this post will be brief. Download this album and continue the dance party that has begun.
Stay Classy,

Well well, more than one post from me in a day! Be excited!
This one is Port O'Brien's All We Could Do Was Sing, and its marvelous. I found this band on Sirius Satellite Radio's Left Of Center, which is an amazing channel, if you haven't ever listened to it you should. Its Channel 26. Anyways, the album starts off with I Woke Up Today, which makes me want to sing! So listen to it and sing!
Also, included for your viewing pleasure, is a video of Port O'Brien from La Blogotheque, which is an amazing blog by an amazing director who shoots videos of very good bands in a very good way, I've added a link to the right side of the page, so you should check that as well.
But wait! There's more! If you're in the Gainesville area you should join the facebook group which I have been placed in charge of called Indie Rock @ UF.
Stay Classy.

I really don't know too much about this band, I'm still getting into them, so AJ may be more enlightening as he has seen them live. I do know that when I first saw the name of the band, my friends and I had a debate about how to say it. Well we were all wrong and the correct way to say it is Chik Chik Chik. I just put this up here to continue the Indie Dance Party that has begun.
Enjoy!

Well well, I'm sorry that I haven't been able to post much lately. The internet here makes it kind of hard to upload albums. However, I got one in tonight and I'm going to post it here and now.
On July 22 and July 23, Tilly and the Wall along with New Zealand's very own Ruby Suns will be playing shows in Orlando at the Social and Jacksonville at Jack Rabbits, respectively. Although the shows aren't here in G-Vegas, AJ and I will be making the trip to one place or the other to see these bands do it up.
I'm posting Tilly and The Wall's newest album O, released via Conor Oberst's record label Team Love.
So well... here it is:

and just for good measure, here's a link to the Ruby Suns' album we already posted like... 2 or 3 posts ago!
The Ruby Suns - Sea Lion

Very intense dance music.

Dear H.A. (formerly known as A.J.),
I am writing to you to express thanks and gratitude for posting this album. It is glorious. It makes me want to dance! DANCE FOR HOURS I SAY! It makes me want to throw a party! I think we should throw a party and invite people we don't know. A giant indie party! When I move into my new place, we should have an indie party! Featuring the likes of Hadouken, Hot Chip, Girl Talk, Ratatat, and more! The beer will flow like the salmon of Capistrano! What do you think?
-Shane B

Pabst Blue Ribbon, Short Shorts, Mad Cigs?
You got yourself an indie party my friend
-A.J.

This one comes from a request from someone who needs to take his vitamins. Ummm what can I say about Holy Fuck? They are unfortunately Canadian, but they will give you something to cry aboot. Really trippy indie/electronica that will truly blow your mind if the right chemicals are involved. Lovely Allen is the single, it's really fucking good.
Safe Travels,
A.J.

A joint discovery with me and shane, probably the second best band to come out of new zealand. Part of the new indie/world music scene that happening right now. Give this one a few listens, really powerful music while keeping it simple. I hope this makes sense pretty fucked up.
-Your boi
-------------------------------
AJ isn't giving credit where credit is due.
I saw this band open for Foals in Boston a month ago.
Fuck your joint discovery.
If you get the chance to see Ruby Suns live you should, the lead singer plays guitar AND drums. It's pretty sick.
Fuck bitches, make money.
-Shane B
Fuck you Shane

I really don't have anything new and exciting right now, so here's something kinda old and exciting. The latest album from the Dever based band, they are one of the headliners for this years Monolith Festival at Red Rocks. You may recognize their sound as they did the score for Little Miss Sunshine. Sounds kinda like Beirut with gypsies.
-A.J.
i know you're lurking cahlin

Another sweet electro pop duo from across the pond. They sound kinda like a more subtle hot chip, give it a try.
Shane is the only one in the catch phrase game now
